Volvo Penta MD6 MD7 Cylinder Head Valve Job Kit (3875344)

The Volvo Penta MD6 MD7 Cylinder Head Valve Job Kit (part number 3875344) is a comprehensive solution designed for professional mechanics and DIY enthusiasts who require a complete set of replacement components for performing a valve job on MD6 and MD7 Volvo Penta marine engine cylinder heads.

This kit includes an essential assortment of valves, guides, springs, retainers, keepers, and other related components. Each part is meticulously engineered to meet Volvo Penta's stringent quality standards, ensuring a reliable and long-lasting repair.

The valves in this kit are precision-machined from high-strength materials, such as stainless steel or other alloys, to withstand the extreme pressures and temperatures encountered in marine engine applications. The valve seats are designed to provide an optimal seal, minimizing leakage and optimizing engine performance.

The kit also includes guided valve assemblies, which consist of valve guides and valve stem seals. These components are crucial for maintaining proper valve function, as they ensure a snug fit between the valve stem and cylinder head. The guides are manufactured to tight tolerances, allowing for accurate valve positioning and minimizing wear.

Additionally, the kit comes with a set of springs, which play a significant role in controlling the opening and closing of the valves. These springs are designed to provide the necessary force while maintaining their shape and resilience over time.

The retainers and keepers in the kit help to secure the valves in their respective positions within the cylinder head. The retainers are typically made of a durable material like steel, while the keepers are typically made of a material like bronze or brass. These components work together to ensure that the valves remain properly aligned and do not come into contact with each other when the engine is running.

In summary, the Volvo Penta MD6 MD7 Cylinder Head Valve Job Kit (3875344) is an essential toolset for anyone looking to tackle a valve job on their MD6 or MD7 marine engine. This comprehensive kit contains all the necessary components for a successful repair, ensuring that the engine continues to perform at its best.

Volvo Penta's MD6 MD7 cylinder head is a common part used in various Volvo Penta engines, including those used in marine applications. A cylinder head valve job refers to the process of inspecting, repairing, or replacing the valves, guides, and seats in the cylinder head. Here are some potential pros and cons of buying a Volvo Penta 3875344 cylinder head MD6 MD7 for a valve job.

Pros:

1. OEM Part: This is a genuine Volvo Penta part, ensuring that it is designed to work optimally with your engine.

2. Quality: Volvo Penta is known for its high-quality engines and parts. A new cylinder head can help improve engine performance and durability.

3. Compatibility: This part is specifically designed for MD6 MD7 cylinder heads, ensuring a perfect fit.

Cons:

1. Cost: A new cylinder head can be a significant investment, especially if the valve job could have been done on the old one.

2. Labor Costs: Installing a new cylinder head requires specialized knowledge and tools, which can add to the overall cost.

3. Availability: Depending on the location and availability of the part, it may take some time to receive the new cylinder head.

Conclusion:

The decision to buy a new Volvo Penta 3875344 cylinder head MD6 MD7 for a valve job depends on several factors, including the cost, availability, and the condition of the existing cylinder head. If the existing cylinder head is in poor condition or has significant wear, replacing it may be the best option to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity. However, if the existing cylinder head is in good condition and the cost of a valve job is significantly less than the cost of a new cylinder head, then a valve job may be the more cost-effective solution. Ultimately, it is important to weigh the pros and cons carefully and consult with a qualified mechanic to make an informed decision.

Recommendation:

Before making a decision, it's recommended to have the existing cylinder head inspected by a qualified mechanic. They can assess the condition of the valves, guides, and seats and provide an estimate for a valve job. This information can help you compare the costs and make an informed decision based on the specific needs of your engine. If the valve job estimate is significantly less than the cost of a new cylinder head, then a valve job may be the more cost-effective solution. However, if the existing cylinder head is in poor condition or the cost of a valve job is similar to or greater than the cost of a new cylinder head, then replacing the cylinder head may be the better option.

Freshly machined complete cylinder head assembly for Volvo Penta model's below, md6a md6b md7a md7b md67b, part numbers, 3875344, 840378, 840019, includes all the hardware/bolts, valve cover, rocker shaft. I installed this on my md7a was trying to get running again. Unfortunately the cylinder walls in block needed to be oversized and need new pistons. Ended up doing a re power, my loss is your gain.

New valve seats and guides installed. I was lucky enough to locate one new old stock intake valve for this cylinder head, the rest of valves were reground. Cylinder head is packed very well and ready to ship your front door. All mating surfaces machined flat and then the cylinder head was pressure tested.
